Winery inspires the 'Spirit' of the metal

We moved into a new home recently and the back of the house offers a floor-ceiling, wall-to-wall view of the vineyards at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery.

This 'passive green' house was designed by Niagara artist Robert Herman.

The view is stunning, changing moment by moment as the sun moves through the sky each day.

My most recent piece of art, 'Spirit', was influenced by the light, festive feeling of the surrounding vineyards. It was designed for a specific location above the fireplace on the end wall of the room that overlooks Ravine.

To me, the gentle steel waves of this piece reflect the rhythm of birds flocking over the vineyard.

On an intuitive level  I was inspired by the Niagara River which flowed through the ravine thousands of years ago.

The sun and daylight paint 'Spirit' in iridescent colours, making it an alive, integrated piece of art in this home.

This is my favourite creative process... entering a home, feeling the energy of the owners, and creating a piece of art for a specific location that reflects who they are and what they love.

If you are inspired to have something created for your home or office, let's talk.
