'Canada Day Celebrations at Ravine Winery' Inspired Painting

Canada Day Celebrations at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery provided wonderful inspiration for a painting I recently created.

This piece is the third in a series of work that is inspired by the landscape and rhythm of the landscape surrounding Ravine, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

This new piece of art is entitled 'Celebration'. It is  expressive of the dramatic firework display on Canada Day over the vineyards.

It is also symbolic of a powerful source of energy flowing up from the vineyard, to the sun and embracing it.

I chose aluminum for my canvas for it's lustrous quality. It's a little tough to see in a picture online, but the layers of acrylic paint evolved into an explosion of colour worked between clear and iridescent coloured  areas of shimmering  aluminum.

This technique allows the art piece to reflect light, colour and create depth in  the room.
